The Wincanton Falcons RCFC was founded back in 1978 and has since then had
various flying field locations. In 1999 the club found itself looking for
another site and the members decided that the club needed a permanent site
and so a suitable field was found and purchased. The field is situated on
the road between Templecombe and Buckhorn Weston, it is about eight acres
in size and in the middle of open countryside. Much hard work to date has
resulted in a splendid flying field with dedicated pit area and extensive
and convenient car parking.
The club has around ninety members of varied abilities and interests within
the hobby of Radio Controlled Flight. The club prides itself on a high level
of safety and also has a active training and achievement program so that all
members can fully enjoy their sport. The club also organises various social
events including the annual 'Open Day' which is normally very popular with
visiting pilots and the public.
